iBridge Launched officially - a new type of network platform in Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park

On the morning of September 9, 2007, Zhongguancun Demonstration Center, co-established by the UNESCO University-Industry Cooperation Chair and Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park, came into being formally, with its signing ceremony and the University-Industry Cooperation Workshop held in the BJU (Beijing Jiaotong University) Science Hall. As an important aspect of the Zhongguancun Demonstration Center, iBridge - a new type of network platform for international cooperation in Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park - is also officially launched on the same day, which, as a grand gift for the Zhongguancun Demonstration Center, reflected Haidian Science Park's sincerity and ability to cooperate. This new type of service platform will play an active and unexpected role in information transmission, practical exchanges, case analysis, workshop and discussion, brand promotion, and so on.

The UNESCO Beijing Office delivered congratulations from Mr. Y. Aoshima and Mr. Shunmugam Jayakumar, who were away attending an international conference. Ms. Xiu Xiaoping, vice-director of the MST (Ministry of Science and Technology) Torch Center, Mr. Li Xuewei, vice-principal of BJU, Mr. Yu Jun, a member of the CPC standing committee of Haidian district, deputy mayor of Haidian district, and vice-director of the Administrative Committee of Haidian Science Park, as well as representatives from the government, business, and academia, such as the International Development Section of the Torch Center, International Cooperation Section of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Beijing University of Post and Telecommunication, China University of Geosciences, Thunep Holdings, Beijing ZhongChuang Telecom Test Co., Ltd., attended the signing ceremony and the workshop.

At the ceremony, Ms. Xiu Xiaoping, Mr. Yu Jun, and Mr. Li Xuewei, on behalf of Torch Center, the Haidian district government, the Administrative Committee of Haidian Science Park and BJU respectively, extended their congratulations to the establishment of the Demonstration Center. Ms. Xiu Xiaoping spoke highly of Haidian Science Park's contribution in building iBridge - a platform for international cooperation and exchanges - and the positive role it has played in promoting internationalization. Mr. Yu Jun said that Haidian district government and the Administrative Committee of Haidian Science Park will continue to give full support to the Demonstration Center, so as to make a platform for cooperation between government, production, study and research.

The establishment of Zhongguancun Demonstration Center is the result of the complementary advantages of both parties, and it is an achievement of the iBridge concept of "connection of network, of heart, of world; linking roads, intelligence, and the globe."

The originality of the network platform lies in the fact that it has successfully introduced ideas such as blogs and communities, integrating independent users with the special science park, an approach that applies the network platform within a science park management service system and combines science parks and various resources from around the world.

The official opening up of iBridge network platform also signifies the turning of a new page for the international service system of Haidian Science Park. It is significant in promoting and supporting China's S&T companies in going international and participating in international competitions and following international practices. And we hold a firm belief that Haidian Science Park's one-stop network service platform for high-tech enterprises to "go international" will play an active role in high-tech enterprises' international transformation in Zhongguancun.
