First International Symposium on Regional Innovation for the Downtown (Haidian) of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Model Park Held in Haidian

On May 27, 2010, the First International Symposium on Regional Innovation for the Downtown (Haidian) of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Model Park was held at Zhongguancun, Haidian. 150 delegates from IASP, science parks of UK, Spain, Canada and China, and business officials from countries like Poland, Hungary, France, Russia, Rumania and Czech attended the meeting.

The symposium, held at the 1st anniversary of the approval by the State Council to build Zhongguancun into the National Innovation Model Park, and Haidian the core area of the Model Park, was hosted by Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government, the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park, the Haidian Government, and undertaken jointly by HSP and IASP. The symposium also received support from the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, Ministry of Science and Technology of China.

“Linking the Best for the Construction of Zhongguancun Science Park” as the theme, the symposium also held two Parallel seminars: “International Development Strategy for Science Parks” and “Future Development Model for Science Parks and Regional Innovation”.

The symposium will surely act as a bridge to incorporate innovative regional construction into the global range, and thus to become an integral component of the world's innovation system in science and technology industry.
