The First China - New Zealand International Technology Transfer Forum Successfully Held in Beijing

On April 18, 2008, the first China - New Zealand International Technology Transfer Forum took place in Beijing. This Forum was jointly hosted by Tsinghua University Technology Transfer Centre and Auckland University of New Zealand, and the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park, CIUR (China Industry University Research Institute Collaboration Association) and Beijing Coordination & Innovation Service League were supporting entities. The Forum was held to promote the Free Trade Agreement between China and New Zealand, as well as the establishment of a cooperative relationship between Tsinghua University, Auckland University and Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park to push forward the transfer of international technology.

Attendees from China are as follows: Xiu Xiaoping, deputy director of MST (Ministry of Science and Technology) Torch Center; Qian Jinqiu from MST International Cooperation Division; Gu Binlin, president of Tsinghua University; Yu Jun, Vice Mayor of Haidian District Government and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Haidian Science Park; Fu Shouqing, assistant-mayor and director of the General Office of the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park; and related scholars and experts.

Representatives from more than ten high-tech enterprises, incubators and Science Parks also attended the Forum, including HSP International Cooperation Division, Haidian Science Park Research Center, Ufida, Zhongguancun Yongfeng Industrial Base Co., Ltd., and etc.

Attendees from New Zealand are as follows: Tony Browne, New Zealand’s ambassador to China; Stuart McCutcheon, president of Auckland University; senior managers from over 40 New Zealand enterprises engaged in IT, bio-technology, health, food, environment, machinery, and textile; and about 20 representatives from New Zealand’s colleges, institutes, TT and IPR management companies, science parks, incubators, and VC organizations.
