High Level IEEE Officials Visit HSP to Deepen Cooperation

On September 22, 2009, the U.S. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) held a ceremony to celebrate the 125th anniversary of its foundation in the Presidential Plaza Hotel of Beijing. Attendees included Lewis Terman, the chairman of the 2008 IEEE, Tan Tieniu, the vice secretary-general of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hu Yan of China Electronics Standardization Institute(CESI), Lu Shan, vice-president of China Center for Information Industry Development, Fu Shouqing, deputy director of the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park, and Zhang Xiuying, director of International Promotion & Cooperation Division of Haidian Science Park.
Mr. Lewis Terman gave a speech titled “IEEE and a Century of IT Development” in which he briefly recalled IEEE’s development over the past 125 years and its important role in the contemporary world to encourage people to engage in research and development of IT and to create a promising future for themselves.
On September 23, James, the standing director-general of IEEE, Matt Loeb, director of IEEE, and Hua Ning, chief representative of IEEE China, paid a special visit to HSP (Haidian Science Park). They expressed optimism about the development of Zhongguancun, and said it was the reason they had stationed the chief representative office of IEEE China in HSP.
